| Rajasthan includes the most diverse, dramatic landscapes in all of India. Small wonder that this was the realm of the rival Raja princes, competing to build the most exquisite, extravagant palaces, of bustling market places still vivid today with gorgeous, sumptuous colour: wealthy merchants in ornate turbans and their elegant customers in their vibrant hand-dyed fabrics. This itinerary includes every aspect of this rich diversity, a perfect balance of short flights, touring and classic train journeys, taking in the absolute highlights of this amazing state in a carefully crafted two week tour. We stay at some of the finest palace hotels, by the beautiful lake in Udaipur, visit exquisitely carved Jain temples on a dramatic journey to the desert city fort of Jaisalmer. We ride the camels to a fantastic overnight safari camp; a stunning desert sunset. Via the great fort at Jodhpur we fly back to Jaipur, the glowing 'pink city' Rajasthani capital with its gorgeous stone palaces. Visits to Ranthambore and Koeladeo wildlife sanctuaries bring us antelopes, millions of wetland birds, and even tigers. Rajasthan is fabulous in every sense; the last serene dawn visit to the glowing marble of the Taj Mahal will stay with you so long after you fly home. |
